Join us for a special lecture and tour with acclaimed American artist Mario A. Robinson, Save Ellis Island’s first-ever Artist in Residence.

During this program, Robinson will share select works created during his residency at the Ellis Island Hospital Complex and discuss the themes, stories, and visual language shaping this new body of work. Drawing inspiration from the island’s layered history, Robinson will offer insight into how place, research, and lived human experience inform his creative process.

Following the talk and Q&A, guests will enjoy a brief guided visit to the south side of Ellis Island, where Robinson has been working during his residency. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the spaces that inspired the paintings and learn more about Robinson’s upcoming watercolor workshops at Ellis Island this August.

This program offers a rare opportunity to engage directly with the artist and experience Ellis Island through the lens of contemporary art.

Ferry tickets to Ellis Island must be purchased separately through Statue City Cruises.

Please note: All ticket sales are final and non-refundable. Questions? Please contact Irene Mone - imone@saveellisisland.org or call 201-332-8485 x4.
